Elena attended the meeting to discuss ideas for providing legal assistance to seniors in Anne Arundel County. She did some research and found that there is a retired attorney who provides legal assistance at the South County Senior Center every other week. He provides estate document review.  He refers to the Attorney General’s website for power of attorney and advance directives but finds that can be a barrier. Another concern is lapsing malpractice coverage due to retirement.

Next steps:

Elena will contact AABA and MSBA Estates and Trusts and/or Elder Law Sections for volunteers.

Joanie will contact MVLS.

Anita will find out more about current status of the 60+ program and the senior helpline.

Next step would be to coordinate with Anne Arundel County Senior Centers.
