Ray Pinkham:

One was something along the lines of what we discussed at the end of last month’s meeting about information sheets.  The NAEHCY has these “tool kits” that give general info about benefits, but they are not state specific.  She thought one thing we could do, which would not be too much effort would be to do a Maryland specific “tool kit” that is similar to the ones that I’ve attached that she sent me as examples.

Patricia Juliannelle:

Here is the piece of the ACA I mentioned.  I would LOVE to see Maryland really grapple with effective implementation of this and create some policies and practices we could promote as models nationally.

"Sec. 1943.  (a) Condition for Participation in Medicaid.—As a condition of the State plan under this title and receipt of any Federal financial assistance under section 1903(a) for calendar quarters beginning after January 1, 2014, a State shall ensure that the requirements of subsection (b) is met.

(b) Enrollment Simplification and Coordination With State Health Insurance Exchanges and Chip.—

(1) In general.—A State shall establish procedures for—

...(F) conducting outreach to and enrolling vulnerable and underserved populations eligible for medical assistance under this title XIX or for child health assistance under title XXI, including children, unaccompanied homeless youth...."

"I'm also attaching a couple of tip sheets I made for our Youth Task Force in Sacramento, CA.  This is what I meant by taking our generic UY Toolkit and making it more relevant for a specific audience."
